The ePROD TFF platform is designed to support different TFF membrane formats within the same workflow, including cassettes, hollow fibre, and ceramic/tubular, depending on the selected membrane and housing. This flexibility helps match the setup to your process needs for concentration and diafiltration without changing the control approach.
The following ranges are indicative and should always be validated with the membrane manufacturer and through process testing. The recommended strategy is to work with TMP and ΔP limits and adjust the crossflow to control fouling and shear.
| Filtration type (TFF) | Typical target | TMP guideline | Indicative flux (LMH) | Selection notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Microfiltration | Clarification / turbidity reduction | 0.1–1.0 bar | 50–200 | Select by pore size (µm). Pre-filtering can help stabilise the flux. |
| Ultrafiltration | Concentration / diafiltration | 0.2–2.0 bar | 5–80 | Select by MWCO (kDa). Control by TMP and ΔP limits to reduce compaction risk. |
| Nanofiltration | Fractionation / low molecular weights | TBD (depending on module) | TBD | NF often requires higher pressures. Confirm housing compatibility and operating limits. |
As standard, the platform integrates control modules for TMP configuration, concentration mode, diafiltration mode, water flow test, filling, level control, CIP, SIP, advanced eSCADA, OPC server, user management, recipe management, reporting and functions aligned with 21 CFR Part 11.
In addition to the options listed, the platform can be engineered to specific process, integration or GMP requirements. For a detailed list, see Section 10.
- Selection of membrane format and housings cassette, hollow fibre, ceramic/tubular.
- Alternative pumps (lobular) or high-flow auxiliary pumps for permeate/diafiltration.
- Additional instrumentation (pH, conductivity, turbidity, UV, etc.) and PAT integration.
- Advanced data and integrity packages (extended audit trail, electronic signatures, remote access).
- Documentation and validation (IQ/OQ under proposal) and special finishes (electropolishing, roughness).
Features of eProd TFF 100 L and 500 L models
The platform is offered with two multi-purpose tank configurations. In terms of characteristics, the tanks are equivalent; the main difference is the volume and, consequently, the typical flow/area range and installed power.
Optional features and common configurations
The platform can be configured to suit different processes and regulatory requirements. Frequently used options are listed below:
- Membrane format: cassette / hollow fibre / ceramic-tubular (depending on feasibility).
- Filtration surface area expanded to ~64 m² (subject to engineering).
- Lobular pump (alternative to twin-screw) for shear-sensitive products.
- High-flow external pump for permeate/diafiltration (if high LMH is required).
- Optional in-line sensors: pH, conductivity; PAT integration.
- GMP documentation packages: 3.1 certificates, roughness, traceability; calibration plan.
- Data integrity functions (21 CFR Part 11 / EU Annex 11) depending on configuration.
- Special surface finishes (e.g. electropolishing) according to specification.
- IQ/OQ (optional) upon request.
